I meant to email earlier to say how much I enjoyed the Lakes Sky Ultra, time has passed but I still find myself thinking back to a great day out and smiling. The route was really well planned and I like the fact that the bit behind Patterdale took me to an area I’d not done much in. I was surprised by the scramble up red scree and I really enjoyed it – if only I could find that way myself again I won’t bother with the path!
It was a super organised event and I was surprised that I quite got into following the little red flags as I’m more used to map and compass.
Several of my friends were out that day and they are all dead keen to sign up next year.
Thanks again, I really enjoyed the event, and all the reckies that went with it. I’ve had a nice surprise when logging into the web page to see a picture of me pop up too!
Hi Charlie, just wanted to drop you a quick note and say thanks to you and your team for putting on a truly superb event. I was totally blown away by the enthusiasm, dedication and support given by your volunteers on all the feed stations and check points throughout the race. Truly inspiring!! The whole thing was incredibly well organised, from the kit check, to the marker flags along the entire route to the whole crew dedicated to the competitors safety and well being along the entire course
What a great event!! Truly epic, incredibly tough and challenging!
Hi Lakes Sky Ultra,
Just wanted to thank you for an awesome route and perfect weather !
It was brutal, but fun
I probably shouldn’t have squeezed ‘Wasdale’ in after the V3K. I had nothing in my legs from the off. So I just thought, do what you can and try to enjoy it, which I did.
The technical sections were well considered and a nice distraction to the fatigue
I loved it!! Honestly I had so much fun it was excellent. Well marked and marshalled on such an interesting course. Loved the cowbells and the potatoes at the end were perfect!
Thank you so much for accommodating me arriving in the morning and thank you all so much for a wonderful weekend.

Hi – Wanted to drop you a note after yesterday’s event to say what a great day it was – incredibly well organised and run – felt very well looked after throughout – from info in advance to marshals and safety support –
The feed station people in Patterdale and Haweswater couldn’t have been more helpful in particular – but all were great – safety crew were supportive but happy enough to let you get on with scrambling sections
Liked the red arrows formation flypast too – kept me going into Kirkstone Pass
Really great event
Hi Charlie and Team,
I just wanted to say a big thank you for such a fantastic event. It was a great intro to Skyrunning for me and to the Lakes District for my family, and we really enjoyed the experience!
It is a bit too early to plan now but I hope to be back next year and complete the course on time.
I just wanted to drop you a note to say a massive thank you for such an awesome event. It makes such a difference when a runner plans the route... and i really saw your passion in the route planning and organisation.
Also, to let you know that the car WAS fine... nothing missing. That said, ended up having quite a serious blow out on the motorway on way to Nottingham last night... so now, the car is not so fine.
Its been a pretty epic weekend for one reason and another. Not one to be forgotten! Happy to report im in one piece (walking a bit funny!!)... just carless.
These things are sent to test us!!
Thanks again and great to meet you
Thanks for a great event on Saturday. The course was amazing and the organisation and support truly professional, one of the best in my experience. Well done.
Can you please advise when and where the race photographs will be available for viewing, thanks.

Just want to offer my sincere thanks to you, the marshals and the rest of the team for a great day on Saturday.
Brilliant route and a fantastic event!
Thanks again for a cracking race last weekend. I was made up that I managed to complete it within the cut off time - 45 mins inside it in the end!
When I entered I was a bit worried if I was still able to do that hard a run in the time allowed and not injure myself in the process but it appears I can!
race route, particularly the scrambly bits.
Flags. If I'd had to stop to check the route I would have struggled for time.
The tracker. Friends and family seemed to enjoy watching my attempt.
Marshals. They were absolutely brilliant. Like fell running marshals; hugely supportive and encouraging even though the ones at the later check points had been in place for hours by the time I got there. Loved the drummer on Catsey Cam!
Food at Patterdale.
Thanks again for the race and accepting my entry.
Now, what's next.......?
Just wanted to drop you an email to say cheers for such a quality event at the weekend.
Organisation and course were top notch! Good effort dude.
All the best.
Just like to thank you for organising such an EPIC event this past weekend. Also thank you for trusting me to enter without having run a mountain marathon but using my Tatra experience instead.
Just want to say thank you and congratulations for Saturday.
What an amazing event!!
Loved it... Even though I did struggle at times.
Enjoyed the race very much, especially Pinnacle Ridge which was the highlight.
Course marking and marshalling was excellent – the drummer who offered chocolate cake on Catstye Cam was a star.
Thanks for an absolutely awesome race! The course is amazing and I had a really good (if sometimes tough) time in the mountains last Saturday.
Things that were awesome:
- course marking
- aid station and checkpoint volunteers
- race atmosphere and organisation
- the course
- food at aid stations
- the electrolyte drink at the aid stations (saved my day!)
It really has been a fantastic race and I hope to do it again!
Hi Charlie and Team,
Really enjoyable race
Brief was excellent. I find the logistics of getting to a brief the night before is sometimes awkward and can often mean another night in a hotel. Therefore the brief needs to add value. Yours did. I thought is covered all safety and logistics points well and was clear about cutoff and rules etc.
The organistiion was excellent in every area. The marking of course. Ropes and safety. Friendliness aid stations and overdoing sense of competence.
Not sure about cowbells at first but was lifted by them when I heard them.
Facilties really good at the college (events centre).
Seemed good value for money and I wouldn't bauk at the cost.
I has a great day and I went to a few places I hand been to before.
Thanks to all the team.
Probably not much help in what I'm about to write but I would honestly say everything was spot on don't change a thing. Organisation.venue. race. Marshalls. Marking was absolutely amazing. Ropes on the 2 sections was very helpful. Food at the finish was lovely, looking forward to next year and putting in a decent time. Gutted to fall after 5 mile and not be able to descend for rest of race. Ps I'll have a survival bag soon.
Thanks again for a great day and a great race. Loved every minute
